Lifestyle design

Since we decided to do this journey, I’ve been reading many blogs of other travellers that often make a trip like ours look like kids play.

There are people travelling for 20 years, travelling with 8 children, but what called my attention was a couple working without a fixed place, he is an illustrator and she a business strategist, of course they are not alone and not the first, but their merit is to transform this lifestyle into something accessible to ordinary people like us.

After a little research we discovered the concept of “Lifestyle Design“, a concept without a precise definition so far.

Living outside the common social standards is not absolutely new, different lifestyles have been out there for ages, but since the industrial age, standardized the lifestyles, those who tried to live outside the common system had to give up of good things that same system had.

But with help of the information technology is much easier now to work with flexibility of time and space, a kind of a mix between hippies and yuppies, with the best of both worlds where you can have what you want without having to stop doing what you like.

We have been talking a lot about what would be our ideal lifestyle, what we would like to do, where and how we want to live. I hope this trip enriches us with new possibilities. And certainly we will write about this again .

I, too, am very interested to see how our trip changes our perspectives. Will it redefine for us our goals, priorities, hopes, dreams? Or will it just be a brief interlude in “regular” life?

I’ve been following your blog, and I have to say, I admire how brave you are by deciding to leave your comfort zone, a take the control of your destiny.

What I can say by my little experience (almost 2 years away from my country), is that you just can’t be the same person, you can be back to a regular life that’s for sure, but you always know that’s one option and not the ONLY option.
